Man faces court for indecent assaults

A man is facing court today (Tuesday 3 June 2014) after reported indecent assaults in Rydalmere and Ermington.

About 8am on Thursday 29 May 2014, a 16-year-old girl told police she was walking along Primrose Avenue when she was approached by a man.

Police have been told the man greeted the girl before grabbing and indecently assaulting her.

A 56-year-old woman told police she was in a park on Spofforth Street at Ermington on 12 May when she was approached by a man..

The man conversed briefly with her, before attempting to grab and indecently assault her. The woman broke free from his grasp and he walked away.

An investigation was launched into both incidents as well as two similar matters on Sunday 1 June 2014.

After public appeals for information, a 65-year-old man attended Granville Police Station.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated indecent assault and two counts of indecent assault.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court later this morning.

Inquiries into the alleged indecent assaults are continuing.
