BACH Dang restaurant offers superb, authentic Vietnamese cuisine reflecting the Vo family's rich culinary history and handed-down recipes.
Dining room manager Bach Hue Vo said the Vo family had operated the restaurant at the same place on Canley Vale Road since 1983,
"Our signature dish, which even brings back our loyal customers of 31 years, would definitely be our tamarind mud crab (cua rang me)," he said.
"This house specialty combines the delicate flavours of crab with a tamarind sauce for a caramel finish.
"Bach Dang's tamarind crab has great personality — it's gutsy, full-flavoured and a fun dish to eat, a large plate is filled with the mouth-watering crab and placed in the middle of the table, it is a case of roll up your sleeves and dig in."
He said running the restaurant had been a labour of love, still remaining strong today.
Another crowd favourite is their traditional Vietnamese sweet and sour soup (canh chua ca).
"The tart flavours of tamarind are combined with sweet chunks of pineapple which is balanced out with fresh coral trout and vegetables, it has the perfect blend of sweet, sour and spicy. Comfort food at its finest."
He said they had also expanded the family business and opened Crystal Palace and the International Function Centre in Canley Heights and Canley Vale respectively.
"Browse our menu and you will find everything from a steaming bowl of hearty beef pho to the famous savoury Vietnamese pancake (banh xeo) — Bach Dang will take your tastebuds on a journey through Vietnam," he said.
"We aim to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere that will make you feel like a part of the family whether you are among our regular neighbourhood patrons or a first-time visitor."
