Armed Robbery at Cabramatta pizza restaurant

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a pizza restaurant at Cabramatta last night.

About 11pm, a 47-year-old man was working in the restaurant on Hughes Street when he was confronted by a man who was armed with a handgun.

He demanded and was handed cash from the register before leaving the restaurant through the rear door of the premises and running west along Hughes Street.

The store owner was not injured during the robbery and immediately contacted police.

Officers from Cabramatta Local Area Command, the Dog Unit and Polair attended the scene and conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the armed man.

A crime scene was also established at the restaurant and examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives are continuing investigations into the armed robbery and are looking for a man who has been described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance with an olive complexion.

Police have been told the man was aged in his mid 20s, about 170cm tall with a slim build and wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants and white shoes.
