Balance key to high style

FORMER Bossley Park High School student Diyana Kosso will bring women's high-end and luxury fashion to the runway today when she displays her 10-piece collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.

Miss Kosso, 22, said she felt excited and honoured to be selected to take part in the event.

"My inspiration comes from balance: creating high-end luxury garments that are light and structured, edgy but feminine," Miss Kosso said. "It's all about using light against dark and balancing the two. The colours used in this collection are royal blue, light blue, white and black.

"It's very detailed, has lots of texture and a lot of hand work."

She teamed up with luxury jewellery designer Aida Guirguis of Scarab Rouge, who created different pieces of jewellery for her collection.

"That was exciting," Miss Kosso said. "I learnt a lot about jewellery pieces, as well as getting more publicity."

A Hoxton Park resident, her interest in and love for fashion began when she was a child.

She was inspired by evening dresses and began drawing dresses from the age of six.

Her passion kept growing as she got older and her career goal was to become a fashion designer and eventually start her own label.

Miss Kosso said she was now working on her autumn/winter collection in a bid to establish her label.

"I'm hoping that one day, my garments get stocked in Myer and David Jones," she said.
