Attempted child abduction Guildford

Police are appealing for witnesses following reports of an attempted child abduction at Guildford on Sunday.

Officers have been told a 12-year-old girl was walking in Guildford Road, Guildford, about 6.20pm when a small, black, older-model sedan pulled up alongside her.

The girl told police a man wearing a dark face covering got out of the car, grabbed her right arm, opened the back door, and forced her into the back seat.

The man reportedly got back into the driver’s seat and drove away.

A short time later, when the vehicle stopped at an intersection, the girl got out and fled.

She asked a passer-by for directions to Cardigan Street, Guildford, and ran home.

The girl told family members about the incident, and they contacted police.

Police are investigating the incident, and would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being tall, with a medium build, and having a bald head.

The girl has told police the man was wearing a dark, long-sleeved shirt; long dark pants; and gloves.
