Police have raided a number of clandestine drug houses and arrested three men following an investigation into a criminal syndicate in Sydney’s south and southwest.
Since November 2013, officers from Wetherill Park region enforcement squad have been investigating a criminal syndicate operating hydro-houses in the area.
They said their investigation culminated today, Tuesday, March 11, with raids on eight homes in suburbs including Cabramatta and Canley Vale suspected of being used to grow cannabis in sophisticated hydroponic set-ups.
Police arrested one man during the raid at Boyd Street at Cabramatta, another at the Cambridge Avenue address in Cabramatta and a third man at a Bankstown home.
They have been taken to Cabramatta and Bankstown police stations.
Officers continue to examine the drug houses and so far have uncovered more than 200 hydroponically grown cannabis plants. The total amount uncovered will not be finalised until later today.
