Fifty years of wedded bliss for Bossley Park couple

A Bossley Park couple have been married for 50 years — but have only had 12 anniversaries.

John and Kaye Williamson (pictured) got married on February 29 in 1964.

Their daughter, Cindy Oliver, said that when she was younger her parents would take the children out for dinner each anniversary.

"My dad used to joke and say that he has saved a lot of money by getting married on a leap year," she said.

"They have been a great example for us [the children].

"They believe marriage is important and you have to give and take, and help each other."

After attending a bible study class the two found a combined love of God.

In 1985, they relocated and Mr Williamson became pastor of Victory Baptist Church at Mt Pritchard. Since then they have lived in their Bossley Park home they have raised four children, and now have 18 grand children and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs Williamson has also taught Scripture in the Edensor Park area for more than 27 years.

The Mr and Mrs Williamson celebrated their anniversary at a dinner with all of the family and a lunch at the church.
