THEY may not be taking to the streets with placards, but residents of surrounding suburbs insist that opposition to an airport at Badgerys Creek is still alive and well.
Bringelly resident Dianne Baric said members of her family attended protests against the plan in the 1990s.
"I'm not sure why people aren't protesting this time around; most people that live near the proposed site are still very much opposed to the airport," Ms Baric said.
"Some people have already moved away.
"I think that most people just don't think it's going to happen."
Fellow Bringelly resident Pauline Rowe urged the area's political representatives to make a decision either way.
"Get off your backsides and do something already; we're tired of waiting to see what will happen, it's been more than 40 years now, enough is enough," Ms Rowe said.
