Man in hospital after police chase in Fairfield East

A man has been taken to hospital following a police pursuit at Fairfield East yesterday.

About 3.10pm, Thursday, February 27, police were in Mandarin Street when they attempted to stop a green Holden Commodore.

The driver allegedly failed to stop and a police pursuit was initiated.

During the pursuit the Holden was involved in a collision with another car on Ellis Parade. The occupants of that vehicle were not injured.

The pursuit continued onto Woodville Road at Villawood before being terminated.

Moments later the Holden collided with a vehicle in the southbound lanes on Woodville Road.

The Holden driver then ran from the vehicle and was pursued on foot to Marple Street where he was arrested.

While under arrest the man, aged in his 30s, suffered a medical episode and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital where he remains under police guard.

The occupants of the vehicle involved in the second collision were not injured and did not require any medical treatment.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.
