Phoenix to get another shot

FAIRFIELD Phoenix Club has just one baseball team left in the Sydney Metro summer competition finals.

The Phoenix men's G grade team lost its major semi-final, 9-6, against Holroyd, at Fairfield Park on Saturday.

Phoenix president Darryl West said the team has one more chance.

"Being a major semi-final, the winner went straight into the grand final and the loser gets another shot," West said.

West said the Phoenix G grade team will play Carlingford at their home ground, Fairfield Park, in Saturday's elimination final at 1pm.

The Phoenix women's and men's fourth grade teams have bowed out of the finals.

The men's fourth grade team lost 12-11 in the knockout semi-final against Kings Langley at Fairfield Park on Saturday.

In other news, the club is preparing for the winter season which starts on Saturday, March 29.

"We're recruiting players for the seniors' teams now," West said.
