What was your biggest challenge opening your cafe?

One of the most difficult things we had to deal with was building new clientele. We are surrounded by cafes so we had to try to bring in customers and keep them coming back. It's hard to keep customers loyal when there are so many competitors around.

What do you love most about your job?

The best thing about working here is getting to meet new people every day. I love the relationship we have with our customers and it is so satisfying when they return with compliments on the food and coffee.

How do you make your cafe stand out from all the other cafes in Merrylands?

We are one of the only cafes in Merrylands to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our menu is continuously changing which allows for a diversity of food with weekly specials. The interior of the cafe is designed in a unique way where customers can feel like they are at home.

What's the most popular dish and beverage at Cafe one 18 and why?

The most popular dish is the mango and prawn salad with fig.

It's our family's favourite and seems to be loved by our customers because its refreshing and light.

Our mixed berry smoothie quenches the thirst and cools you down. It has been the most popular during summer.

What's next?

At the moment, we would like to keep lifting our profile by adding more to the interior. We hope to keep growing and build clientele through our great service, food and unique design.
