CABRAMATTA Police Station's newest probationary constable John Rebolledo is on the beat after graduating from the NSW Police Academy late last year.
The 23-year-old was among 157 students to graduate from Class 320 on December 13.
Mr Rebolledo said he was extremely proud to achieve the milestone after spending eight "intense" months at the academy.
"There was a mixture of emotions when graduating — it was nerve-racking but exciting at the same time," he said.
"The academy was mentally intense. It was a mixture between really good and really hard so I was happy to graduate."
While probationary constable Rebolledo was the only officer in his graduating class to be stationed at Cabramatta, he said he was thrilled to go there because he was familiar with the area.
"I grew up around here and have heard a lot of great stories about this area," he said.
"The community is pretty diverse so it's going to be new dealing with different situations."
The former security guard said he had always wanted to become a police officer because he had always viewed the job as a respectable one.
"It's different to all other jobs. It's very unpredictable but it's all about serving the community and helping people, which is what I want to do," probationary constable Rebolledo said.
