LOCALS featured in the winner's circle at last month's Dancesport Championships.

Wetherill Park studio DanceXS was represented in many of the featured events.

The studio is owned and operated by Stefano Olivieri, a 10-time Australian Professional Dancesport champion and IDSF 2004 World Champion.

He has also appeared on the television series Dancing with the Stars in Australia and New Zealand.

During the recent competition, Mr Olivieri and his partner, Skye Wilson, received first place in the Australian Professional New Vogue Championships.

It was Mr Olivieri's seventh time winning the event.

The couple were also finalists in the Professional Standard section.

Christian Gianni from Hinchinbrook and Stefania Olivieri from Wetherill Park became the Australian New Vogue Champions in the junior open, under 16 years, category.

"They placed first in Australia for Open New Vogue, fourth in the Open Ballroom and first in the Latin American level two event," Mr Olivieri said.

"This was a huge achievement and a wonderful end to their junior careers.

"Christian recently celebrated his 16th birthday, which now means they must compete in the under-21 youth category."

Mr Olivieri said he was proud of all of his dancers.

"This year's championships also hosted an International Dancesport Federation World event, which attracted couples from across the globe," he said. "It truly was an inspiring and heart-racing competition."
