WHEN Kmart's Wishing Tree appeal hit the half way mark on December 5 its Fairfield Forum store had just 122 donations.
Now, with just days to go before Christmas, store manager Joel Robbins believes the store can still make its 1500 goal.
"We had a slow start this year, but over the weekend alone we have received more than 70 gifts," Mr Robbins said.
"We have not been as busy as I contemplated. People seem to be saving all their shopping until the last minute.
"I understand that everyone is under the pump, but the No.1 reason for Christmas is giving."
The presents will be collected by the Salvation Army and distributed to local families in need.
To participate in the appeal, take a gift tag from the tree and specify the age and gender of a suitable recipient. Place it with your gift (wrapped or unwrapped) under the Wishing Tree.
