Dogs saviour flyball action at Horsley Park

IT WAS all pretty fly at Horsley Park Showground on Saturday when the venue hosted some flyball action.

Southern Cross Flyball Club's treasurer Merran Nightingale said there were 120 dogs competing on the day and more than 100 people in attendance.

"Flyball encompasses all things that dogs love to do: running, jumping, retrieving, competing and striving to please their owners," she said.

"It is a sport that any dog can participate in no matter the size, breed or speed."

She said the event, which was held for the first time at Horsley Park Showground, attracted teams from Canberra and the south coast.

"It was a great night, everyone had a great time so we will be looking at holding another tournament next year."

There were six divisions held on the day, with division one going to Norwest Thunderdogs.

Ms Nightingale said the dogs trained for between six to 12 months at Fairfield Showground each Thursday.
