Science gets boost
SMITHFIELD Public School received a $5000 cheque from Credit Union Australia after its nominated school project received the most community votes in CUA Community Care 2013. The school's project was to purchase new science resources which allow a hands-on approach to developing science and literacy. The community was asked to vote on all the nominated projects.
Fun run funds
FAIRFIELD Public School held a fun run in conjunction with adidas and raised nearly $2000. The program provides an opportunity for schools and community groups to raise extra funding while encouraging students to take part in healthy lifestyle activities. Pupils sought sponsorship from the local community to raise the funds which will go towards new resources such as computers, books and sporting equipment for the school. Event organiser Mandy Wells said she was proud of the way the students rallied behind the fund-raiser. Details: www.schoolfunrun.com.au.
