FAIRFIELD business owner Tony Caruso has plenty of reasons to be cheering at the moment.
The 55-year-old recently won the 2013 Fairfield City Champion Top Tipper tournament, earning him $1000 from Event Cinemas and a framed and signed Parramatta Eels jersey.
However, more importantly he is celebrating the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles winning a spot in Sunday's NRL grand final against the Sydney Roosters.
"I'm very excited especially because I wasn't expecting to win," he said.
"Both my brothers are big Eels fans so I'm going to give one of them the jersey and I'm going to spend the $1000 on more advertising for my business."
Mr Caruso, who owns Caruso's Vitamin World in Fairfield, said it wasn't the first footy tipping competition he had won.
He said he had also come third in the tipping site Footytips, and fifth in a similar competition, OzTips.
"It's all about knowing your football, the teams and researching them weekly," Mr Caruso said.
"Knowing about each team, who they are playing and looking at the statistics about the teams which play each other in the past also helped me with my tipping."
He said he has tipped the Sea Eagles to win the grand final because they had more experience in previous grand finals.
"Apart from them being my team I think they have good grand final experience over the Eastern suburbs," he said.
