POLICE have confirmed that the young man who died in Friday morning's fatal crash in Villawood was aged 24.
The man died after the car he was driving hit a truck and several cars near the intersection of Woodville Road and Kirrang Road at about 10.45am.
Police said the young man was trapped in one of the cars and died at the scene while a male passenger suffered abdominal and chest injuries.
Crash Investigation Unit Commander Inspector Steve Blair said police were still working to determine the cause of the crash.
"At the present time, because it's such a large incident, we are still working at getting all the evidence," he said.
"All motorists involved have been blood tested but we're still waiting for the results.
"It's horrific that a life has been taken in the prime of his life."
He said police were currently talking to members of the community in a bid to gain evidence of what took place.
Local resident, Charles Grech, said while he didn't see the accident, he heard it.
"I just heard this huge skid and then a big bang," he said. "I came out straight away to see what had happened. This is a rotten experience, someone has lost their life."
Police said a report would be prepared for the Coroner.
