CABRAMATTA High School's years seven and eight students recently had the chance to spend the day decked out in their casual sporting gear.
The special Gala Day was held on Thursday, August 15, and gave the young students the chance to cut loose and show off their sporting abilities.
Throughout the day they took part in a variety of sports, including European handball and volleyball.
While it was the younger students who took to the courts and fields, Gala Day wasn't just held in their honour.
It was also a chance for the coaches of the teams - students from older years - to show off the skills they had acquired from their Physical Activity and Sport Studies (PASS) classes.
The student coaches have been taught many skills, including how to conduct themselves in high pressured situations where they find themselves in charge of more than one thing on the day.
Their most challenging task was leading their teams to victory.
"Gala Day was a success with students showing great sportsmanship at every venue," said Cabramatta High School host organiser Peter Pham. "'This event gets better every year and the students look forward to it. They are the sporting future of this area."
