GOVERNOR Philip King Public School could consider themselves to be legends of the rugby league field.
The Edensor Park school won the annual Legend's Shield at Macquarie University recently.
The school represented the Parramatta region on finals day and went undefeated across the seven-a-side tournament.
In the round robin phase they defeated Narrabeen North Public School (28-16), Swansea Public School (20-14) and Taree West Public School (22-12). They also drew with St Therese 22-all to finish top of their pool.
In the quarter finals they defeated CBHS Lewisham 24-16 and in the semi-finals they proved too strong for St Bernards, Batemans Bay 24-12.
In a tough final, they defeated Tregear Public School 22-20.
After leading 12-10 at half-time, they scored a converted try in the closing stages to reclaim the lead and claim the state title.
The school received the winners trophy from former Eels' skipper Nathan Hindmarsh, North Sydney legend Greg Florimo and the recently retired Steve Turner.
