A 46-year-old Cabramatta man was at a licensed premises in Canley Vale around 6.40pm on Sunday when he was spoken to by security regarding his behaviour and apparent intoxication. Police said he was asked to leave but it is alleged he refused to do so. Plain clothes police were at the premises for another matter and, as the police approached the man, they could hear him yelling. It is alleged he continued to yell and refused to leave. The man began to act in an aggressive manner and after a short struggle he was handcuffed and taken to Cabramatta police station. He was charged and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on October 16.
Knife pulled on driver
Police are searching for a man after a car was stolen in Villawood on Thursday. Police said a 53-year-old woman was stopped at traffic lights at the intersection of Binna Burra Street and Woodville Road shortly before 6am when a man got into the car. Police have been told the man threatened the woman with a knife and told her to drive away. She was told to stop in Kamira Avenue and get out of the car, leaving her mobile phone and handbag. The man then drove away. The woman was walking back to Binna Burra Street when she saw her car parked in a unit block. Police were alerted but the car was driven away before they arrived. Police are searching for a man described as being of Caucasian appearance, with a muscular build. At the time he was wearing a dark grey hooded jumper and carrying a large knife. The car is a 1997 model black Honda Prelude, NSW registration AQQ 30T. Police urge the public to call triple-0 immediately if they see the car.
