ISABELLA Leonello has seen first-hand the devastating affects cancer has on a child.
The 15-year-old, who works at McDonald's Wetherill Park, spent time at Ronald McDonald House in Westmead recently and witnessed the ups and downs a seriously ill child can go through daily.
Isabella was so touched by her visit to the house she is helping to organise this year's McHappy Day with her manager Jaymie Siebert.
"My experience at Ronald McDonald House was amazing," Isabella said. "As we walked into the house, we met a little girl who had received her last treatment and was ready to head back to Noumea.
"This little girl had a smile from ear to ear.
"It was really rewarding to see.
"Kids that are sick don't worry about anything.
"They are just grateful for everything they've got in life and it shows that we should be grateful for what we have."
This year will be the sixth year Isabella has volunteered her time on McHappy Day to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House charity.
Ms Siebert said she hoped to raise $10,000 on the day.
This year's theme is Disney.
"We will be decorating the store in multiple colours and have some people dress up in Disney characters to make it an environment where children want to come," Isabella said.
"We will also have the celebrity singer Faydee attend."
