Help with English
Fairfield Council will establish a Language and Cultural Awareness Fund to support residents in English language proficiency. The fund will provide grants of up to $1000 for programs including English language classes and cultural awareness. The fund is similar to the existing mayoral donations scheme.
Go to market
Fairfield City Markets are held every Saturday from 9am to 4pm at Fairfield Showground in the covered area behind the grandstands. More than 600 stalls, free entry and lots of parking. Goods range from clothing, toys to groceries and household items. Entry via Smithfield Road, Prairiewood. Details: 9725 2333.
NEW banners will be placed at the entry points of Fairfield city's 13 main suburbs in a bid to give them a colourful and distinctive look.
The project will go ahead once a grant from the federal government's Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF) Round 5 is confirmed.
