Get ready to rock the city

THE Bring It On! Festival is set to rock the city with more than nine hours of activities and explosive performances.

The free open-air music, sport and arts festival is the state's largest Youth Week event.

More than 14,000 young people are expected at Fairfield Showground on April 14.

The festival will showcase young Fairfield talent and include amusement rides, sporting activities, food stalls, skating and basketball competitions and a school dance battle.

X Factor finalists The Collective will perform and the day will end with an all ages dance party from 5pm to 8pm.

Fairfield mayor Frank Carbone said the festival had grown since the council established it in 2002.

"We are expecting a record number of people to attend this year," he said.

"The festival is the only one of its kind in Sydney. There's something for everyone."

The council is offering development training beforehand for budding event organisers, sound engineers, photographers and filmmakers.

The festival will run from 11am to 5pm and will mark the end of National Youth Week.
