Works start on creek
Stabilisation works will soon start along Orphan School Creek in Fairfield West.
Fairfield Council will undertake the work along the creek bank between Baragoola Street and the Cumberland Highway to prevent further erosion. Specialist consultants have produced a plan and the works will include a rock retaining wall, rock drops and a low-flow channel, a flow-diversion mound and regrading and replanting of banks.
Six mature trees will be removed to be used as creek-flow diverters, and the trees will be replaced as part of landscaping.
The work should take three months.
Cancer fund-raiser
Miss Australia Quest entrant Lena Kasparian will raise funds and awareness of National Ovarian Cancer month by hosting a Chick Flick Night screening of Bridesmaids. It will be on Thursday, March 28 at the Armenian Cultural Panoyan Centre on Cabramatta Road, Bonnyrigg from 7pm-10pm. There will be refreshments, snacks and a bag of goodies. Tickets $15 and available at the door. To donate, visit: tinyurl.com/bh7fldj.
