Junction Works calls on residents to kick bad habits

JUNE is still a couple of month away, but The Junction Works in south-west Sydney is already asking residents to kick their bad habits in that month.

Staff, volunteers and corporate supporters turned out last Sunday to take part in this year's annual Campbelltown City Challenge Walk, which was also a launch pad for Junk Free June.

Junk Free June is a health and lifestyle initiative that also serves as a fund-raiser for The Junction Works.

The money raised goes towards the organisation's programs for young adults with a disability who live in the south-west.

"The great thing about Junk Free June is that participants choose how they want to improve their health over the 30 days of June," said Junction Works chief executive Chris Campbell.

"You can give up smoking, fast food, alcohol or chips, or perhaps take up an activity, like a 30-minute jog three times a week. You can even choose a combination of both.

"Then, through The Junction Works' website, participants seek sponsorship for their commitment from family and friends. The funds raised will go a long way towards giving young men and women with disability some healthy options."
