WESTFIELDS Sports Athletic Club competitor Jessica Stikovic has a new "foundation" for her future competition, gaining a sponsorship with a leading home builder.
The 16-year-old will represent NSW at the Australian Junior Championships to be held from March 12 to 17 in Perth.
Jessica, of Prestons, will contest the under 17s and under 20s hammer throwing.
She will compete in the under-17 shot put event. She had to withdraw from the discus because it clashed with hammer throwing.
The teenager recently gained a sponsorship from Masterton Homes, who are paying for her flight, accommodation and expenses.
Jessica said she was very grateful for the Masterton Homes support for her trip to Perth.
"I would like to thank Masterton Homes for this funding," Jessica said.
"They are a great family company and I thank them for taking such an interest in my athletics throwing career, and I hope I can do them proud over in Perth."
Jessica was also going to compete in the shot put but can't at the national junior titles because it clashes with the hammer throwing.
She is a multiple winner at state and national junior level in throwing events.
Jessica also recently represented her country at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival.
