Jake selected to tour NZ

TEENAGER Jake Doran has been selected in the Australian under-19s squad to tour New Zealand next month.

The 16-year-old will head away with the national squad of 14 as the No.1 wicketkeeper and one of the top-order batsmen on the tour.

The tour will start on Saturday, March 30, and run until April 8.

Australia will play one three-day game and three, 50-over matches.

Jake is now a permanent member of the Fairfield Liverpool first grade team along with his older brother, Luke, 21.

"I think it's fantastic for Jake to be selected in the squad for the tour of New Zealand," Fairfield Liverpool president Richard Cook.

"He's progressed well through our graded ranks and debuted in first grade last season when only 14."

Jake made his first-grade debut with Fairfield Liverpool when only 14 for the opening match of the 2011/12 season.

Sydney Cricket Association records show he was the second youngest player to make his debut.
