Student council welcomed at St Johns Park

THIS year St Johns Park High School has welcomed captains Dean El-Mouslimani, Tabitha Macedo and vice-captains Luka Mali and Stephanie Vongsaya, along with six prefects, to its Student Representative Council.

In 2012, vice-captain Stephanie Vongsaya participated in the UBS Young Women's Leadership Academy at the University of Sydney's Women's College, which gave Stephanie the chance to be mentored by prominent female industry leaders.

Under the leadership of SRC co-ordinator Alexandra Ilic, the SRC is responsible for organising and running charity events for the Leukaemia Foundation, Cancer Council, and many more. Some members also gained the special opportunity to participate in the Young People's Advisory Committee and National Young Leader's Day.

The SRC has planned a multicultural day for the school in April, and an environmental program called The Green Project.

The school will also run a High Resolve Citizenship and Leadership program designed for year 8 to 10 students and a Max Potential program for year 11 students designed to enhance personal and leadership skills.

Year 10 to 12 students have been recognised by the Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Award for their leadership roles.

Students also attended an annual school-based leadership camp at the Wollongong Surf Leisure Resort.
