Man charged with firearm offences, possession of counterfeit currency

Officers from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor have charged an associate of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang with firearms offences and possession of counterfeit currency.

Police searched a property in Greenfield Park on November 17 and seized a loaded sawn-off double-barrel shotgun, a blank starting pistol, a dismantled clandestine drug laboratory, prohibited drugs, a stolen motor scooter, and a large amount of counterfeit currency.

A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, unlicensed rider, rider without helmet, possession of equipment for administering prohibited drugs, and unlawfully possess number plate.

Following forensic examination of the items seized, detectives laid an additional six charges against the man when he faced Fairfield Local Court yesterday (Thursday, January 31).

The latest charges include possess shortened firearm, possess unregistered firearm, possess unauthorised firearm, not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition, and possess counterfeit currency.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear in court on February 14.
