Man charged over Telopea apartment fire

Police have charged a man following a fire at an apartment in Telopea early this morning.

About 12.35am, Tuesday, January 15, emergency services were called to a unit fire in Sturt Street.

Fire and Rescue NSW personnel extinguished the blaze a short time later. There was significant smoke and fire damage to the premises but no one was injured.

A crime scene was established and forensically examined.

Following inquiries, police from Rosehill Local Area Command arrested a 45-year-old man in Parramatta about 2am today.

He was charged with destroy property by fire with intent to endanger life.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today.
