A PULVERISING half century from Grant Lambert and four wickets from spin wizard Luke Doran wasn't able to even beat "Mother Nature" in the Fairfield Liverpool first grade cricket team's draw with Sutherland on the weekend.
With the return of the grade competition after the Christmas and New Year break, the Lions made 336 on Saturday at Glenn McGrath Oval, Caringbah.
Then on Sunday, in a strong position, rain arrived helping Sutherland stave off defeat and they were 6-232 after 68 overs.
In the Lions' innings of 336, Grant Lambert topscored with 81 from 98 balls in 146 minutes thrashing 12 fours and one six.
Lambert got strong support from late order players Mitchell Lloyd (59), fast bowler Gurinder Sandhu (44) and Luke Doran (28).
When it was Doran's turn to bowl, the left-armer finished with 4-53 from 20 overs.
The draw leaves the Lions in ninth place on 31 points.
