Attempted bag snatch in Canley Heights

Police are appealing for public assistance after they believe a woman was assaulted during an attempted bag snatch in Canley Heights.

A 63-year-old woman was walking along Ascot Street, Canley Heights, at about 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, January 9), with her handbag and groceries.

Police said the woman was approached from behind. She turned around to find a man trying to pull her handbag from her shoulder.

The woman used her shopping bag to hit the man, who police said pushed her to the ground and ran away along Kiora Street empty-handed.

Police now want to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his late teens, with a dark ‘mullet’ style hairdo, and was wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts and a bum bag.
