AIMEE Maroun and Sean Johnson joined the ranks at Bonnyrigg Heights fire station last month.
Firefighter Maroun, 26, and firefighter Johnson, 23, began their new roles after graduating from the Fire and Rescue NSW State Training College at Alexandria on December 13.
Ms Maroun, of Parramatta, said she hoped to follow in the footsteps of her sister, who is also a firefighter.
"She sees the best version of me and encourages me to achieve it," she said.
The former state government project officer said she left her desk job days behind to pursue a more rewarding career.
"I wanted to be a firefighter to wake up every day knowing that I do a job that I believe in and am proud of,where I contribute to the community," she said.
Mr Johnson, of Loftus, has worked in public health and been a volunteer with the NSW Rural Fire Service.
"I thought I might give it a shot now and I'm grateful that I got accepted," he said.
