THE community can keep up to date with what's happening in the Bonnyrigg area this year with the launch of the All The World In One Place 2013 calendar.
The calendar features details of events taking place throughout Bonnyrigg and surrounding suburbs, as well as featuring photographs from past events.
One featured event is the celebration of the Lao, Cambodian and Thai new year, which will run from April 12 to 14.
The event, to be held at Bonnyrigg Town Centre Park, is expected to attract more than 10,000 people.
Lao Buddhist Society of NSW public officer Chanthanith Chittasy said the three-day event was a time for cleansing, forgiving and renewal.
"Sunday is the most important day because we have cultural shows and a procession of the Queen of Lao new year and her six sisters," he said.
"While there will be a food fair, the really religious side of the festival will be held in the temple.
"Everyone is invited to attend. It's one way to show our culture, as well as breaking down the barriers of misunderstandings about our culture. Attendees will also be able to learn about Buddhism."
He said he was thrilled the Lao, Cambodian and Thai new year is featured in the calendar. Fairfield Council place manager Lesley Unsworth said the calendar aimed to list details of local events happening throughout our faith groups and community. The calendar costs $10 and can be bought from Fairfield Council at 86 Avoca Road, Wakeley.
