Fun-packed night in the park

GET your Christmas cheer on and bring the family, friends, a picnic rug and your best voice to sing carols at the Christmas Carols Carnival.

The carnival will be held on Saturday, December 15, at Central Gardens in Merrylands from 4pm to 8pm.

There will be a fun-filled line-up of live entertainment, activities for kids and a barbecue. There are plenty of things to keep the kids occupied including a disco and the It's Christmas Time in the Magical Kingdom show.

Pint-sized dance sensations from the TV show Australia's Got Talent, the Ziggity Hip Hop Dance Crew, will take to the stage to perform their high energy dance moves and acrobatic routines.

Santa Claus and characters from the It's Christmas Time in the Magical Kingdom show including Jesse the Jester, Leah the Fairy and Zac the Rabbit will be meeting and greeting children on the night. Join in and sing your favourite carols along with seven-piece band Righteous Voodoo and cover band The Shuffle.

There will also be art and craft stalls, an animal farm, wildlife display, jumping castle, mini golf games and face painting. Holroyd mayor Ross Grove said Christmas in Holroyd in 2012 promised to be bigger than ever before.

"With retail in Merrylands on the upswing, an expanded Christmas Carols Carnival, and participation from the more traditional institutions — our families, our churches and private organisations — Christmas will play a large role in putting Holroyd back on the map as an attractive place offering quality family living to all who come here," Cr Grove said.

"This year council is building on the feedback received from the events of previous years.

"We're bringing forward the kids-centric Fun 4 Kids event from Cityfest to Christmas to deliver a carols event that appeals to both Christmas carol enthusiasts and to all families with young children."

Entry, entertainment, and activities are free, so bring yourself, the kids and friends down to an action packed night out in the park.
