Netball enthusiast's 30 years honoured

LYNETTE Quinn has dedicated her life to netball and it hasn't gone unnoticed.

Quinn was honoured for her commitment to the sport, which included a 30-year stint as secretary of Fairfield City Netball Association.

She has received an Order of Australia Medal.

``I was very honoured when I found out,'' she said.

``There are so many people who get nominated so it is such a surprise.''

The Netball NSW director of championships and competitions has also represented the country in administrative roles and is counting down the days to her third consecutive Commonwealth Games appearance.

``I have been appointed as a bench referee for the Delhi games,'' she said.

Quinn, who also has been involved in world championships, has acquired skills in coaching, managing, scoring, and refereeing after almost half a century of involvement in the sport.

On Australia Day, the mother of four spent time with her family, breaking the news of the OAM to her four children.

She hasn't been able to share the good news since she found out about the medal in August last year.
