SAMANTHA Shannahan and Mathew Pietersen aren't seeing red they're seeing green.
They spend most of their day playing on it and now they will be wearing it.
The pair from St Johns Park Bowling Club were recently selected in the Australian under25s lawn bowls team and will put on their green-and-gold shirts when they play New Zealand in February.
Pietersen, who moved to St Johns Park from Parkes in 2007, will be making his first appearance in the national colours and is looking forward to the opportunity of competing in Auckland next year.
``I've never been out of the country so I can't wait,'' said the 20-year-old. ``I can't wait to flog some Kiwis.''
Pietersen, who is in the second year of a psychology degree at UWS, said he was surprised to earn selection in the national team.
``I couldn't believe it when I got the phone call from one of the selectors last Tuesday. I'm not nervous at all and I'm really raring to go.''
Teammate Samantha Shannahan also lives within walking distance of the club.
She moved to St Johns Park from Victoria six months ago.
She's also 20 and is an experienced international campaigner, having represented Australia in the trans-Tasman tournament for the past two years.
