SOUTH Sydney league legend Mario Fenech visited Chipping Norton recently to encourage Rabbitoh fans to emerge from the burrow.
And Souths' football club research also shows many Rabbitohs' supporters reside in Fairfield.
Fenech, a Souths great in his playing days, is membership ambassador for the club in 2008 the Centenary year of rugby league.
"Membership is the key to our success for everything we do and every membership supports our ultimate goal of a 21st premiership," Fenech said.
South Sydney membership sales and ticketing manager Luke Byrne said Liverpool was the second-highest purchasing postcode for tickets to Rabbitohs' games in 2007.
"And just under 25 per cent of our pre-purchased tickets in 2007 were by people who live in Sydney's south-west," Byrne said.
"Our research shows much of the old Redfern was demolished to build the high-rise housing towers in the 1960s, with hundreds of families re-established in the new outer urban suburb of Green Valley, which saw a large population increase for old Liverpool.
"The strong bonds between the Rabbitohs and Liverpool don't end there, with head coach Jason Taylor growing up in Ashcroft.
"After leading Souths to its first finals appearance in 18 years in 2007, JT (Taylor) is especially keen to sign up as many members as possible from his old stomping ground for the 2008 season."
