 Following in Don's footsteps

Following in Don's footsteps

27 Jan, 2010 11:29 AM
IT'S a boyhood dream to walk out onto the hallowed turf of the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Don Bradman did it, Ricky Ponting still does it and the boys from Fairfield RSL Cricket Club will soon be doing it.

The under-16 team will walk out onto the SCG on February 14, after cementing a berth in the final of the Michael Clarke Twenty20 competition.

The Scorpions scored a place in the final with a convincing victory over Mount Colah at Blacktown Olympic Park last Sunday.

Fairfield RSL won the toss and elected to bat in overcast conditions, piling on a massive 8-177.

Mount Colah put in a brave performance with the bat, but the Scorpions did enough to restrict their opponents to 9-156 from their 20 overs.

Cricket NSW development officer Brent Adams said ``the match was one of the best of the tournament''.

Fairfield RSL will clash with Plumpton-Glendenning at the SCG on Sunday, February 14 in the final of the competition.
