WHEN Mitchell Marsh turned to Luke Doran in the under-19 World Cup final last Saturday, he needed his spinner to turn the match on its head and turn it he did.
The Fairfield Liverpool left arm spinner delivered in every way possible, ripping through the Pakistan top order when his country needed it most.
With Pakistan easing to the modest Australian total of 207, Doran was brought into the attack with immediate results, taking three consecutive wickets to leave Pakistan teetering at 4-110 after 30 overs.
``When I came on to bowl the game was in the balance with Pakistan at 1-69,'' Doran told the Champion after arriving back in Australia on Sunday.
``They could have went on with it but luckily for me I had an aggressive field and took a couple of wickets.''
Australia rolled Pakistan for 182 with Doran finishing the match with impressive figures of 3-32 off 10 overs.
Doran's contributions weren't just limited to his efforts with the ball, guiding the Aussies into the World Cup final with the bat in a nail-biting semi-final clash against Sri Lanka.
``Every kid dreams of playing for their country,'' Doran said.
``It was great that I could do my part for the team.''
The 18-year-old returned home on Sunday after celebrating into the early hours with his teammates, but come Saturday it will be back to business at Rosedale Oval.
Doran will be hoping to reproduce his recent good form when the Lions resume play against Penrith defending 293 for victory.
