Countdown to the Ashes - your thoughts

03 Jul, 2009 09:42 PM
The countdown to the Ashes is well and truly under way.

After Australia's 5-0 whitewash of the English on home soil in 2007, can the boys produce the goods in England when the series begins on July 8?

Can Phil Hughes live up to the expectations that have been placed upon him in the early stages of his career?

Can England bounce back into form against their arch enemy or will Ricky Ponting's men reassert themselves as top dogs yet again?

Is this going to be the series that kick starts or ends the career of NSW spinner Nathan Hauritz?

There are a lot of places up for grabs and this is the team that the Fairfield Champion believes will take the field for the first test this Wednesday.

1. Phil Hughes

2. Simon Katich

3. Ricky Ponting (c)

4. Michael Clarke (vc)

5. Mike Hussey

6. Marcus North

7. Brad Haddin

8. Mitchell Johnson

9. Brett Lee

10. Peter Siddle

11. Stuart Clark

12th man. Nathan Hauritz

Bring Back Body Line! Give the Poms what they deserve! This AShes Tour for Australia will either be very good Like 1989 or 1993 or very bad Like 1977 or 1985! It depends on how the new team performs in England and whether they are suited to the english conditions!!
