Bad day began with coin toss

THE toss of the coin went against Fairfield Liverpool first grade skipper Anthony Clark on Saturday against Gordon at Chatswood Oval.

Clark's counterpart, Beau Casson, called correctly, decided to bat and Gordon piled on 8-402 by stumps.

The former Australian spinner, Casson, top-scored with 181.

At one stage the Lions were roaring with Gordon in bother at 5-85 in the morning session.

All-rounder Grant Lambert was outstanding taking 5-56 from 25 overs in hot conditions on a flat wicket.

The Lions batsmen now have a massive run chase this Saturday starting at 10.30am.

In second grade at Rosedale Oval, the Lions made 209, Gordon resumes at 0-67.

In third grade, the Lions made 249 at Killara Oval, with Dean Hayes top-scoring with 82 and Mitchell Lloyd making 68.

The Lions' fourth grade made 190 and Shaun Bridges top-scored with 61.

The Lions fifth grade play its match against Gordon this Saturday and Sunday at Beauchamp Oval at Chatswood.
