THE Sydney Obilic Basketball Club has had its most successful Draza Mihailovic Cup campaign to date, claiming five titles from the juniors' division to the senior men's.
The tournament at Alexandria Basketball Stadium also saw the hosting club win its fourth championship in the men's senior division and winning for the first time on home soil.
Club president/captain Stevan Sipka also announced his retirement from the senior division, after the 38-year-old ended his career with a grand-final victory.
``It's such a great feeling to go out on a winning note, especially with all the hard work our club has put in the last year,'' Sipka said.
The grand final yet again featured Obilic and interstate rivals Brisbane White Eagles for the third consecutive year.
Both sides engaged in cat and mouse towards the end of the final minutes. Brisbane captain Vladimir Rapaic scored a crucial three pointer, locking the scores at 78-78.
Brisbane extended the lead to 78-79 with a free throw and captain Sipka scored in the paint, putting his side in front 80-79.
Former Novi Sad guard Marko Savic saved the day, scoring within the three-point line on the final second of the shotclock.
The White Eagles managed to score once more but it was Vlado Jankovic who put the icing on the cake, making one from two free throws to extend the final score to 83-81.
This year's tournament will be hosted by Otpisani in Melbourne.
