Youth Central: Bring It On! Youth Festival

They were asked to bring it and bring it they did.

After months of preparation and planning, the Bring It On! Youth Festival went off in style last Sunday.

Despite the rain and hail, 7500 people braved the rather miserable conditions to enjoy an action-packed day at Fairfield Showground.

They sang, they danced, they even bench-pressed their way through the day.

Children, teenagers, parents and grandparents alike all turned out to witness one of the most important days in the Fairfield community calendar.

Crowd numbers on the day surpassed all expectations, so thanks must go to the district's youth for supporting such a great local event.

It was great to see so many young people volunteer their time and energy to organise and help run the festival.

They united as one and ran a smooth and enjoyable festival for everybody to enjoy, including myself and my colleagues.

The Champion had its own stall at the festival, giving us the chance to meet a lot of people.

It was enlightening to engage with the community in a way we don't often get to do.

Among the many highlights of the afternoon were the performances by Australian Idol's Paulini Curuenavuli and Joseph Gatehau, internationally renowned singer Israel and the amazing dance routines of So You Think You Can Dance finalists Khaly Ngeth and Chris Merriman.

Judging from the success of last Sunday, I think the Bring It On! Youth Festival is here to stay and the countdown is on again.
