Summer is less than two weeks away and the weather is here to prove it.
Temperatures in Fairfield were expected to reach a scorching 39 degrees today and 38 and 39 degrees on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
According to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology the warmest temperature recorded in Liverpool during November is usually only 25 degrees.
This weekend the temperature will come close to the highest on record which was 43 degrees in 1982.
Chris Zaverdinos, marketing co-ordinator of Fairfield Leisure Centre, said the rise in temperature had brought with it a rise in the number of people using the centre.
``There has been a noticeable increase in people coming to the leisure centre over the last few days which coincides with the weather and also the end of the school term,'' Mr Zaverdinos said.
An expected thunderstorm this afternoon will provide a welcome relief from the heat and on Monday the temperature should drop to 23 degrees.
The hot weather has only just begun with this summer expected to be the hottest on record in NSW.
Fairfield residents are reminded to check with their organisations if the hot weather will result in rescheduling of sporting contests.
