UPDATED: Man appears in court after Neeta City stabbing

07 Aug, 2008 06:15 PM
Robert Silvester Gregorec of Villawood, 32, appeared in Fairfield local court on Friday charged with maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent after a stabbing in Neeta City.

The 39-year-old male victim remains in a stable condition in Liverpool Hospital after the incident on the third level of the carpark about 11.30am on Thursday.

The Fairfield man received three stab wounds to the back, chest and stomach.

It is understood witnesses saw a man engage in a heated exchange with the victim when the victim began sending text messages instead of leaving his car space.

The man allegedly then returned to his car and retrieved a knife. The victim got out of his car and was stabbed.

Duty officer of Fairfield local area command, Ralph Deans, said police officers aided man until ambulances arrived.

One shopowner said while it was the busiest time of the day, parking was not usually a problem at Neeta City, particularly on level three where the incident occured.

Gregorec did not enter a plea or apply for bail.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday.

The victim remains in hospital and is yet to be interviewed due to the effects of morphine.
