07 Nov, 2009 06:32 AM
Police are treating as suspicious the death of a woman at Abbotsbury, in Sydney’s south-west.

About 12.30pm on Friday (November 6), a family member found the 56-year-old woman deceased inside her Unsworth Street residence.

It appears the woman had suffered a bullet wound to the chest.

Police from Fairfield Local Area Command attended the scene and conducted inquiries.

A crime scene was secured and examined by specialist forensics officers.

A post mortem examination will be carried out in coming days to officially determine a cause of death.

Local detectives are continuing their inquiries but at this stage are treating the woman’s death as suspicious.

Anyone with information that might assist police with their investigation is urged to contact Fairfield Detectives via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
