Lynn: Lalich "obsessed" with Dai Le

09 Apr, 2010 05:06 PM
Cabramatta MP and Fairfield Mayor Nick Lalich needs to focus on the electorate rather than his political competition, according to Liberal MLC Charlie Lynn.

Last week, Mr Lalich criticised the former Liberal candidate for Cabramatta, Dai Le, for not living locally.

In a press release, Mr Lynn defended Dai Le and launched a scathing attack on Mr Lalich.

Mr Lynn said residents don't care about where their MPs live.

"Nick Lalich...needs to get over his obsession with Dai Le and get on with the jobs he is elected and paid...to do,'' Mr Lynn said.

"He needs to be told there are other things that are more important to his constituents in Cabramatta.''

He said that Mr Lalich needed to put a "restraining order" on himself to control his "obsession'' with Ms Le.

"It seems that all Nick Lalich is concerned about is a former Vietnamese refugee girl [Dai Le] who had the temerity to challenge his political authority at the recent by-election,'' Mr Lynn said.

Mr Lynn said the former Cabramatta MP, Reba Meagher, had not lived in the electorate.

''For some strange reason known only to Nick, he never had the same obsession with his predecessor Reba Meagher,'' Mr Lynn said.

"Reba, as we all know, lived in the distant trendy seaside suburb of Coogee.''

I think it would certainly be a bonus if a candidate lived in our area - however, Lynn is correct. Lalich needs to stop criticising Le, and start focussing on the issues, much like Le has been doing. Meagher hardly ever spent time around Cabramatta, despite the fact that she was the member for Cabramatta for 14 years. Le has made statements in the past regarding her living in Dulwich Hill due to the special schooling needs of her son. Her decisions regarding her family are clearly off limits, and should not be used for political gain.

This is a standard ALP slagging tactic. When I stood at the last State election for the seat of Liverpool, Paul Lynch and his minions launched attack after attack about me not being a "local". Unfortunately they didn't do their homework, because whilst I'm in the Fairfield Council area I have lived in the Liverpool electorate area for 20 years - but regardless of this, what does it matter where the person lives if they do the research and spend the time in the electorate? Most of the Government Ministers do jack in their own electorates, and we'd be better off with people who WANT to represent a particular area. Give up the spin and focus on policies.

You are so wrong Mr Lynn. I certainly do care about my local representatives living locally and I have never agreed that they should live anywhere but in the area that they represent and I don't care if their Labor or Liberal. I never voted for Reba Meagher for this reason and would not vote for Dai Lee for the same reason. I think she is being opportunistic to move back in the area to try and win Cabramatta but would she stay if she loses. And sorry Mr Lynn but who are you? If your a representative of Cabramatta I have never seen or heard of you unless it's defending Dai Lee.

Mr Linn has identifield why the Liberals will never win Cabramatta, that is they will not select local candidates. Who is Mr Linn to tell us Cabramatta people what we need. Love him or hate him Nick Lalic is local and is very visible around the area. He always attend functions and local events and even with all the critisism of the Liberals he fronts every day. Ms Lee was last seen applying for another job with the liberals where she was literally dumped and then came scooting back to Cabramatta for cover. Ms Lee your tenancy leased in Cabramatta has just terminated.

I see the phantom poster has discovered yet another identity in their vast array of personalities, to continue the nonsense campaign. Anyway, I have to agree with Bill Cashman concerning standard ALP slagging tactics. This has stepped up greatly. When someone is a genuine concern to them, out comes the dirt campaign. Whilst I feel that it's better for an MP to live in the electorate, I would point out that Dai Le isn't an MP, and that it's nearly 12 months to the election. This pathetic and childish attack therefore can be seen for the sheer act of desperation that it. The bombardment of ALP orientated stories over the last month is another clear sign of desperation - trying to show action, when there has been decades of inaction, neglect and failure. Mr Lalich has a vast array of issues that need dealing with, so I suggest he gets about doing what he is paid for and addressing the issues of the area. I'm not even convinced that Mr Lalich will be the candidate anyway, or serve out 4 years in opposition. His couple of colleagues that have been pursuing their own little aggressive self-promotion campaigns in recent weeks, also need to stop jaw-boning and just get on with their job.

missycabra - Reba Meagher lived in Coogee because she wanted to. Dai Le lives in Dulwich Hill because her son has a condition which requires him to be in a special needs school (you should do your research before making such flippant comments).

Dai Le must return home. We who live in Cabramatta do not want to experience again the disregard shown for us by Mr Lalich’s party when it gave us another person who was not one of us, could not be one of us and did not want to live among us. He is part of a party that has put NSW in the worst position I have seen over a lifetime. There are more messes than you can poke a stick at. Electricity is one. This is 2010 and we live in a country of riches yet the weak among us cannot afford hot water or use power for basic comforts. The government says there will be reimbursement. This is dismissive of another complication to the lives of the elderly, infirm and families and extra administrative costs. Electricity costs feed into business costs so we must suffer a higher cost of living. There will be apologists and the specious argument of gas emissions as the sole cause will be put forward. A substantial cause is the mismanagement of power by the government including use of industry dividends for other purposes and missed opportunities for sell off. When you get your electricity bills and see more rises in the cost of living, be mindful that Mr Lalich’s party has contributed to them.

Mr Lynn nailed it. Dai would be an outstanding leader for any government that used her. Nick is just an apologist who says he is sorry he can't do what needs to be done because of any or many reasons. There are still a few months to go, and Nick might do something worthwhile. Go on and do something worthwhile, Nick, or step aside for a good leader like Dai Le.
