CAFE Clemente in Fairfield jumped on board StreetSmart's CafeSmart campaign to help out the homeless last Friday.

The cafe donated $1 for each coffee sold on August 5 and raised about $170.

Business partners Enza Russo and Ernest Igual opened the cafe three months ago.

"This is a perfect way to help the community because the campaign is directly helping the homeless in our area," Ms Russo said.

"Ernest and I feel if we can do a little something for the community, then why not?"

Fairfield Chamber of Commerce president Wade Burns, who visited the cafe, said he was proud and hoped Cafe Clemente inspired others to get involved in charity events.

StreetSmart is a charity which focuses on helping the homeless and their CafeSmart campaign was launched for National Homeless Persons' Week.

Details, donations: streetsmartaustralia.org.
